Who we are

Mountain Lake Films is headed by award winning filmmakers Wendy Ord and Glen Samuel. The duo have a combined 45 years in the Canadian film industry and together, they write, shoot and produce projects including dramatic feature films, television projects, documentaries and commercials.

Ord was the first female First Assistant Director in Canada and began directing in 1994.  Her debut feature,  Black Swan, which she wrote and directed was theatrically released by Lions Gate Films in 2003. Since then she's helmed multiple critically acclaimed projects.

Samuel is an entrepreneur with a background in high tech electronics and an award-winning writer with several scripts in development. He became a steady cam operator in 2010 and recently added Aerial Cinematography to thier slate. Fully licensed by Transport Canada, they've flown cameras for several feature films, TV movies, series and commercials.

From budgeting to writing, directing, shooting & editing, we can produce projects from start to finish. With Glen's technical expertise and Wendy's on-set experience, we are writers first so our focus is always on story.

Music Videos, Commercial & Corporate

We work with clients to create video that is fresh, exciting and beautiful. Any project, big or small, we go for the extraordinary.

Aerial Cinematography

We own and operate heavy lift drones and the latest in hand-held gimbaled camera technology. We create stunning aerials and soaring visuals for feature films, tv commercials, music videos and real estate.

  1. Screenplays
    Feature film script, "Rock Bottom" was a finalist for the Inaugural China Canada Gateway at Whistler Film Fest. "Charley's Fire" won Best Screenplay at Music & Film in Motion & "The Dark Side" was runner up at WIFT's genre competition.
  2. Black Swan
    Black Swan
    Wendy's feature film opened at the Atlantic Film Festival, won Best Director and Best Film at Music & Film in Motion Festival. It won Best Actress and Best Cinematography at the New York Film & Video Festival & played around the world
  3. Tora
    Tora starred David Suzuki in his first acting role and was invited to 20 festivals worldwide. It won the Moving Images Award WIFT-VFF & the Golden Palm Award Mexico Int’l FF as well as multiple nominations.
